Hands,DNA,Genetics and learning
DNA plays a dramatic part into who we are, I wake up and I am right handed but love sushi but my older brother wakes up, he is left-handed and hates sushi. We both have the same parents and we were raised a similar way but why are we different? DNA plays a dramatic part in who we are in today society but what is the difference in the way that we learn plays an important part in understanding who we are. I am a hands-on learner, I would want someone to explain something to me in detail and have me do it myself as I do a project myself, if I am lost then I will ask questions along the way. I have experimented with many different types of learning methods from hands-on learning, listening learning and a mixture of both. I know I would want someone to take their time to explain something for me slowly, friendly and willing to answer any questions I may have pertaining a topic. I have learned that my learning style is reflective of my DNA, we learn different things in different ways partly due to our DNA and environment. As I learn how to adapt and become a better learner hands-on, I have slowly become a better learner with just communication as well but with communication, I would need to be shown as well but it can only be on the simplest term. Anything that is possibly confusing, I have learned I need to do it hands-on and work and go as I work. A perfect example of this is I work at a warehouse where I am an Inventory Control Quality associate as there are many ways to do one job so I learned by taking notes and doing the task hands-on to complete the job, as I worked I can either go back to my notes or ask for help, nevertheless I work through the task.
I actually experienced flipped learning during my time at Joliet Jr. College, Our teacher would give us the study notes and we learn the content all throughout online as we came to the class we would work on the homework and the teacher would help us as we needed help. I learned I am not a big fan of studying online, I would rather learn the content in class as I have questions the teacher can help me and work on the homework at home. I feel there are many cons to Flipped learning because of time management at home, no computers, parents may not be able to pick child up from school at a different time, too many IF's with the topic and it could cause a negative impact with the students, the one on one teamwork effort with the students play a big part with students based on personal experience.
